Drive to Northern Queensland
Thursday at 5 am we packed up the car and started our journey up the East coast. We saw some beautiful countryside, beaches, thousands of miles of sugar cane fields, rainforests filled with dense green trees. It was amazing! We did not have accomodations for Thursday night because we were not sure how many, of the 22 hour drive, we would make the first day--it turned out to be about 14 hours--to Arlie Beach. The first hotel we stopped at was full, but the second one had a 3 bedroom apt. available and it was reasonably priced and amazinging nice. We stopped at a giant mango formation. Unfortunately mangos are not in season, but we were able to purchase dried mango, apricots, fresh pineapple and bananas. We traveled another 8 hours and arrived in Trinity Beach (just past the city of Cairns). Our apartment practically sat on the beach. What a view!
