Aruba so far

If you know me very well, you know that luck is not one of my constant companions, especially when I am on vacation. Brad and I were on our way to the airport to go to Aruba and we needed to stop by the bank to get some cash for our trip. It was 10 p.m. and Brad was going to use the drive through ATM but he approached the drive-thru in the wrong direction so he thought that he would just back up to the ATM, rather than go around. It seemed logical, for Brad, so he was very careful not to hit the back of the truck, or his mirror when, snap, off went the passenger side mirror. (I wish I would have taken a picture, but I don’t think Brad would have appreciated it too much, at the time). We then went to Walgreens and purchased duck tape (the cure-all for everything) and continued to the airport. As soon as we got to the gate and were waiting to board, Brad hopped on E-Bay and purchased another mirror. Gotta love that guy! Our plane left at 12:50 a.m. and we flew to Atlanta, had a 3 ½ hour layover and on to Aruba. Needless to say, we were both a little tired. This is a picture of Brad just after going through customs.

We got a very talkative Taxi driver who talked very fast and thought he could speak English well. He told us everyone in Aruba learns Spanish, Dutch and English when they are in the 4th grade. He must have been absent a lot. We arrived at the Marriott Resort and it is awesome! We are on the 6th floor and this is the view from our balcony. As you can tell from the trees, apparently it is windy in Aruba all of the time. It has actually been a good thing because it helps ease the heat and humidity and makes the beach much more enjoyable.

If you can keep the hair out of your mouth and face. The kind young man who helped me get some lounge chairs set up, while Brad went back to the room to get our sunglasses, informed me not to forget to put sunscreen on because 1:30-4:30 was the hottest time of day. I think he took one look at my albino skin and, no matter what time of day it was, he would have told me it was the hottest time. Look around, everyone else has much darker skin.

Here is a picture of Brad doing what he does best – watching TV shows that he downloaded before we left home.

The water was so nice. Nathan and Tyler wouldn’t have liked it much because there really is no waves to ride. (just trying to make you feel a little better about not being able to go with us). Did it work?

This is a picture of the pool area and our hotel, on our way back to the room to get ready to walk to Tony Roma’s for dinner. We are having a great time, with much relaxation!

I have been waiting for the update! Looks like you guys are having a great time. The comment about Brad buying a mirror before you guys totally made me laugh and Ava came running into the kitchen to know why. She wanted to know who was in the picture with Brad (of course she had to ask about 500 more questions about the whole blog post, gotta love her). Totally jealous, can't wait for our next getaway...... :)
